NC Space Grant 2007-08 Funding Opportunities for Students
 
Each year NC Space Grant awards graduate student fellowships and
undergraduate student scholarships to students attending its member
institutions.  Each of these programs is focused on students who are
pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
 
The application deadline is February 16, 2007.
 
Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Award: Up to $7,000
Eligibility: Graduate students (during 2007-08 academic year)
 
Applications for the NC Space Grant Graduate Student Research Fellowship
Program are now open.  Each year NC Space Grant awards graduate student
research fellowships to students attending its member institutions who are
pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
(STEM). This competitively awarded program engages the future STEM workforce
in hand-on, aero/space-related, research projects and facilitates the
development of mentor relationships between students, faculty and the NASA
community.
 
Applications are evaluated based upon the student's academic achievement,
quality of proposed research project, letter of recommendation from their
research mentor, and exhibited leadership qualities.
 
Applicants may carry out their research project at their home institution
(award up to $5,000) or at a NASA center or industrial contractor (award up
to $7,000). All research projects must be conducted under the general
supervision of the applicant's research mentor.
 
 
Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program

Award: Up to $5,500
Eligibility: Juniors & Seniors (during 2007-08 academic year)

Program are now open.  Each year NC Space Grant awards undergraduate
research scholarships to students attending its member institutions who are
pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
(STEM). This competitively awarded program engages the future STEM workforce

Eligibility: Freshman, Sophomores, & Community College Transfer Students
(during 2007-08 academic year)
 
Applications for the NC Space Grant Undergraduate Scholarship Program are
now open.  Each year, NC Space Grant awards $1,000 undergraduate
scholarships to students attending its member institutions who are pursuing
careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). At the
end of the academic year scholarship recipients submit a final report
detailing the aero/space-related research and education that is conducted on
their campus.
 
Applications are evaluated based upon the student's academic achievement,
letter of recommendation, and exhibited leadership qualities.
